My kids love Halloween! I think it is because it is the holiday that never ends. We had our first Halloween party last Saturday at our church and then Brinley got to have dress up and have a party at dance class on Tuesday. Yesterday Cory and one of his friends took the kids to a trunk or treat and a carnival that EITC and tonight we are going trick or treating with Grandma and Grandpa Price in American Falls. Brinley is a princess, Belle, and Gabe is tigger. We have had a lot of fun with the kids at all the Halloween parties.
I feel like all I do anymore is work. I technically only have one job where I work all day Friday and that's it. Not so bad, right? But then there is my other job, I fill in for a therapist at another outpatient clinic that I used to work at. During the summer this was great because I got more hours and Cory had the summer off so he was watching the kids. Right now that therapist has been very busy so he has been having me come in and help out when he schedules too many people. So I have been working a couple hours a day on Mondays and Wednesday for him. And this week I am also working all day Thursday because he is going out of town. I am also teaching seven piano students. AHHHH! I feel like I don't have time to do stuff with my kids like I want to. I guess it's all about balance. I am going to have to get better at saying no so that I'm not going crazy and my kids aren't at babysitters all the time. I think I'll just try to make it through this week first.
I was in Utah this weekend talking to one of my cousin's and she asked me if I blogged. I was embarrassed to tell her that I did have a blog, but that I had not posted on it for over six months. I have decided that is silly. I haven't been posting because I am so far behind that I don't want to have to catch up, so I just get further behind. So whether I will make the effort to catch up or just start posting again I'm not sure, but I will at least start posting some current stuff. Thanks Heather for a nudge in the right direction!
As you can probably guess from my lack of posts recently, we still don't have the internet at our house. So, I thought I would take a minute and give a quick update about us. We are pretty much unpacked and settled into our new house. Brinley had a great birthday, she got lots of art stuff, a fish tank, and her favorite, a tool set. Gabe will be one next month and is still such a sweet little guy. He is pulling himself up and cruising all over the furniture. He loves to open and close door and empty all my drawers.
Cory and I both got callings in our ward. Cory is the gospel doctrine teacher, he is team teaching so he gets to teach half the time. I was called as the 1st counsilor in the primary presidency. We are both excited for the new opportunities to serve. We just relisted our American Falls house, which we had leased for the past five months. Hopefully it will sell quickly and we can be done, but we are trying to be patient and hope for the best.
Brinley's birthday is this Saturday. She is very excited. She keeps telling us that all she wants is tools and something to paint with. We are having a little family party Saturday early afternoon and then we are going to take her bowling. Fun for her :)
We are finally getting settled into our new house. I unpacked all of the essential stuff and then totally lost motivation. This weekend, thanks mostly to my amazing husband, we got more stuff unpacked. Our house is looking pretty good we still have a few boxes in the office, my computer is still at my parents, and we only have a couple of pictures up, but other than that we are pretty well organized and unpacked. Yeah! Thanks Cory!!
It is official! My daughter is in the terrible why phase. I think I might go crazy! I am not exaggerating when I say that she asks me why at least a hundred times a day. I answer one question and the immediate reply is why? Even when I say I don't know she asks why. Sometimes I think it is cute, but most of the time it is just annoying. I need to focus on being patient and hope that this phase doesn't last very long.
We finally moved into our new house last weekend. It was pretty hectic and stressful, mostly because the old owners were taking their sweet time getting out and I wanted to get in when they said I would be able to. I have been trying to get unpacked the last few days and my house is starting to look a little better. A couple of not so good things about moving: Number 1 a mouse. No one warned me that mice get into your stuff when it is in storage, but they do. A few of my baby blankets got chewed up and a couple of old chair were damaged (I don't really know how badly because I just stuck them in the garage and haven't gotten that far in unpacking yet.) But the worst part about the mice is the live one that ran out of a box when I was unpacking it. Of course, I totally freaked out and ran out of the room screaming. I sent Cory in to kill it but he couldn't find it, so I immediately ran to the store and bought 12 mouse traps which we set mostly in the one room. Cory checked the traps the next morning and we caught it. Yeah! Hopefully, that is the only one in my stuff. Number 2 we had to make some unexpected purchases. The water heater doesn't work very well, our dryer broke, and the dishwasher isn't draining. So two days after moving in we went and bought three new appliances that we weren't expecting to have to buy. As long as nothing else goes wrong we should be fine. Overall I love, love, love my new house. It has been so fun getting all my stuff back out and organizing everything. If anyone wants a tour your are welcome to come over and see it :) We don't have internet yet and probably won't for a little while so it may be a while before I post any new stuff.
I have been ready to ween Gabe for a month or two now. Unfortunately, he has not been ready. So last week I decided that I was no longer going to nurse him during the day. I have been pumping and trying to give him breast milk in a sippy cup. So for the last four days he has not been taking it. He just screams and crys every time I try to give him the sippy because he just wants to nurse. This morning I had to work for an hour and when I came home my mom said that he had finally taken the sippy. So I just put him down for a nap and although he wasn't very happy about the sippy he did take it and drank about two ounces. YEAH!! Hopefully eventually I will be able to substitute formula for the breast milk and then I can stop pumping, but for now I will just be happy for that little bit of progress.
Cory's Grandpa Price passed away on Saturday evening. He has been sick for a while now, so it wasn't a surpise, but still very sad for Cory's family. We are going down to Malad for the viewing and funeral Wednesday and Thursday.
So we really bought a house. We closed on Friday. They said that they were going to be done moving out this weekend, but we drove by today and there we still some furniture in the front room. Now we are just waiting for them to call us and tell us that they are out.
I am 24. Yeah. I had a fun birthday. Karlee and Justin came up on Sunday and brought a cake and so I opened my presents on Sunday, but Cory did take me out to dinner tonight. For my birthday everyone in my family went together and go me a Wii and Wii fit. I love it!!!! It has been lots of fun and I plan to use the Wii fit to get in a little better shape.
A couple of days after Christmas we went on family vacation. It has been a couple of years since we went on a family vacation with just our little family and we had a blast. We went down to St. George. We stayed in a timeshare resort down there. It had two bedrooms, a family/dining room, and a full kitchen. It was very nice. While we were down there we went to a dinosaur museum, a wildlife museum, Zion's national park, Brigham Young's winter house, and the visitor's center at the temple. We also went swimming everyday at the outdoor pool at the resort and played on the playground. It was very relaxing and we were glad to get away from everyday life for a few days.
Brinley and Cory built a snowman at Grandma T's on the way down.
Here we are at Zion's National Park
This is outside our hotel, and in front of the temple
I can't believe it has taken me this long to sit down and tell everyone some very exciting news. We bought a house! We close next friday, but we might have to wait a couple of weeks after that to move in. So at the latest we will be in our home by the 10th of February, at the earliest the end of the month. YEAH! Here is a picture of the outside.
